Car Subscriptions

While new, car subscriptions are becoming increasingly popular as more people learn about them. For those of us unfamiliar with car subscriptions, they provide an alternative to leasing and buying a car. Just like any other subscription service, vehicle subscriptions allow you to sign up for and cancel your membership at your leisure - you’ve just never heard it done with cars before.

In Nashville, Tennessee, BMW has launched its first subscription service that allows subscribers to access a lineup of their vehicles with unlimited car swaps and ordering through their app. Unfortunately, it is pricey. BMW’s lowest tier is available for $1,099 per month, but gives you access to five vehicles and includes insurance and roadside assistance in the price tag.

One of the first companies to enter the car subscription field was Volvo in 2017. Their, Care By Volvo, service will soon offer all of their models, but currently only offers the XC40. With one car their program is similar to a lease, but allows you to swap cars every 12 months at a starting price of $600. Once they add more cars to their lineup it will feel like a real subscription service.

While only available in three states right now Mercedes Benz has also released a pricey subscription service. From $1,600 to $3,000 you’ll have access to more than three different cars that you can swap between at minimal notice. You can use their concierge service to pick up and drop off your new vehicle, which at that price point better be included. You can join today by downloading their app if you’re in Atlanta, Nashville, or Philadelphia area. Let us know how it is!
